Allies and Morrison Pen Huge Barnet Plans

A huge planning application has been filed that revises proposals for the West Hendon Estate in the London Borough of Barnet.

The project features up to 1,642 residential units in the place of those that will be demolished, a new school, plus commercial and retail space with the tallest building of 29 stories which should be around 115 metres in height. To put the plans into context compared to what presently stands on the site, there are currently only 597 residential units in the area of which a mere 12 are more than 2 bedrooms in size.

Accompanying the planning application are detailed proposals for phase 3 that consists of six buildings designed by Allies and Morrison, G1, G2 and E1, E2, E3 and E4 with the scale ranging from 5 to 26 stories, or 86.41 metres above ground making it the second tallest part of the development after the future phase of Block D. The space will be almost entirely residential with 358 new homes, plus 131 square metres of commercial space.

Whilst work on phase three should start sooner than later assuming it wins approval from the necessary authorities, it's anticipated that to construct the entire project in all its phases from start finish will take no less than 17 years, a time period that guarantees that the scheme will change radically from start to finish.
