Tower Plans For Manchesters Rochdale Road

Space Developments are working on this new mixed-use scheme for a site in central Manchester.

Located on 13-17 Rochdale Road, it has been designed by Unwin Architecture and Design (UAD), the scheme is located in the Northern Quarter only a short walk away from Manchester's Victoria Station.

The building form is split into a modest three-stepped block of 15, 13 and 10 storeys, a surprisingly short proposal given the heights of other buildings in the immediate area. Materials used on the scheme are designed to fit in with the surrounding areas hence the varying use of red brick, glass curtain walling and ceramic cladding depending on the section of the building.

Within will be a residential aspect hosting 134 apartments of which 43 will have 1 bed, 78 will have 2 beds and 13 will have 3 beds. 699.5 square metres of commercial space in the form of both offices and shops is also provided along with 34 associated parking on the ground and basement levels. 2 of these spaces will be for a communal car pool.

The proposals have already been officially filed with Manchester City Council as a planning application and if everything goes to plan should be determined before the beginning of May.
