The Arts Tower has been the tallest university building in the U.K since it was opened in 1965.
Contary to common belief the building actually has 21 floors above ground. Two of these are plant floors concealed in the crown.
The Arts Tower is supposedly a half scale copy of the Seagram Building, albeit one that lacks bronze glazing and air conditioning.
Rumour has it that since it was completed it has sunk half a foot in height and is gradually sliding down-hill although there is little actual evidence of this from recent surveys into the state of the tower.
When fully occupied the Arts Tower has an average building population of 2,472.
