  • The scale of the factory was such that it sprawled over 46 acres with two main production halls 250 metres long, and 16 metres wide, plus a clock tower rising to 61 metres embellished with the company logo. Within the complex 11,000 people worked.
  • The dimensions of the clock face made it the largest such clock in the entire world when completed.
  • During the Clydebank Blitz of 1941 the factory was damaged by incendiary bombs, with the clock tower in particular receiving damage. It however survived until eventual demolition in 1963.
