The Engineering Building

Images

  • University of Leicester's Engineering Building

Other Information

  • Although from some angles it doesn't look like it, the main tower element of the building is cantilevered above a three storey overhang which supported by corner columns creates a feeling of contradictory geometry. Running through this void is a wedge-shaped auditorium.
  • The cladding of the building is contradictory with the tower covered in near-transparent glass whilst the contrasting material is bright orange solid cladding. This architectural look was to prove defining for much of Stirling's work as later seen in Cambridge's History Faculty.
