- The foundations of the building include ground anchors of the nearby quay wall, with CFA piles set into the Lambeth Sands providing underground support. With this in mind, during construction, in order to monitor the site integrity, the consulting engineers had to monitor quayside as well as the building site.
- The building contains 73 apartments set on eleven upper floors with ground and basement parking occupying the lower levels offering 42 car parking spaces.
- Eastern Quay has 1.8 metre balconies supported by an external steel frame wrapping around every floor of the building on all sides providing 18 square metres of external space per apartment on average.
- In addition to the amenity space for residents this helps to reduce the solar gain that would otherwise heat the building thanks to extent that the floor to ceiling glazing has been employed on the exterior. The glazing is further coated in a low-emissivity material to further reduce solar penetration.
- On the penthouse level where there is no balcony above, shade comes instead from the overhanging roof which continues curvingly down the western side of the building.
- Deferring to the International Date Line, the building sits precisely 1,000 metres away and was orientated by the architects on an east-west axis.
- The building had such a quick construction time (from April 2002 to November 2003) thanks to the fact that 85% of it was pre-fabricated and then erected on site.
