18 columns suspend the entire structure that varies between 7 and 9 floors above the track that runs underneath into Charing Cross station.
At the time this was the largest building in the U.K to utilise air rights. It led to the demolition of most of the roof of Charing Cross Station that had been built following the 1905 collapse, but was not considered to have been an historically important structure.
