Kent House was the headquarters of London Weekend Television which contains three studios that have seen many famous programmes filmed there including "Blind Date", "You've been Framed" and most famously "The South Bank Show" which is named after the building's location and was shown in 60 countries around the world.
The building was originally planned a year after London Weekend Television won their
franchise to start broadcasting in 1967 as a physical symbol of their importance to British
broadcasting that they hoped would rival the BBC.
Particularly unusual for the day and age it was built is the black and white colour scheme rather than brown seen on Kings Reach Tower and the appearance of a castellated crown that follows the lines of the external structural columns.
