Henn Find Diamonds Are Forever

OCT Tower is a second supertall design from international architecture consultancy firm, Henn, for the People's Republic of China.

Designed for the Chinese city of Shenzhen as the centrepiece of a new urban district in that booming megacity, the site currently a small park. The area is considered one of the more appealing suburbs of Shenzhen, although this reputation could lead ultimately to its destruction as developers seek to cash in ruining the very thing that gives the area appeal.

The park will be replaced by a 66 floor, 316-metre tall tower primarily intended to serve as grade A office space whilst a number of skyscrapers from other firms will be constructed around it.

The exterior of the design features a strong diamondesque structure that defines the external look forming strong crossbracing, albeit with curves and a gentle concertinaed look. This is roughly two diamonds on top of each other over the full height of the tower. Cladding then has another set of smaller diamondesque cross-bracing within the main structure, six diamonds tall, repeating the motif. The crown of the tower appears to curve over with a lattice-work of glass and steel under which will be a roof garden.
