New 52 Floor Residental Proposed In Los Angeles

Proposals by the Amidi Group have been put forward for a new skyscraper that will possibly grace the skyline of Los Angeles in the not to distant future.

Located at 1027 Wilshire Boulevard in downtown L.A, the design comes from Canadian based architects Chris Dikeakos Architects. If built it will have 52 storeys and will cover 522,000 square metres.

Constructed of glass and steel the design is fairly simple and understated in the typical conservative mould that American architects plump for, but shies away from the boxy 80s look a lot of American still favour.

Standing on what appears to be a square podium that will presumably contain the proposed 890 car parking spaces, the blue glass oval shaped tower stretches up to a flat peak missing a crown or spire topping it off. Steel balconies insinuate shape up the towers side placed in such a way as to create a curve that draws the eye.

If given the thumbs up the tower will house 402 luxury condominiums and approximately 5000 square feet of retail therapy space. No doubt the usual amenities will be included such as gyms, spas and pools that are commonly found in projects of this type.

If built the tower will be the tallest residential tower in the city at least until the next huge project comes along. Ground breaking had been pencilled in to begin in the first quarter of 2008 but the tower appears to have hit trouble in getting help with funding for its $380 million price tag.

Developers however still appear to be optimistic that the tower can still go ahead and ground breaking now is hoped to occur later in the year. Despite the fall in housing demands, many are confident by the time the tower could be complete in 2010 when the current slump should be well and truly over and demand will be as high as it ever was.
