Designed by American based architect Haddi Samaan the project consists of two 45 storey towers which will come with a price tag of approximately $500 million. Standing on a two storey podium which will cover an area of 31,000 square metres, the towers then sweep upwards with a mixture of blue glass and white concrete, balconied facades which when viewed at an angle almost imitate the wave forms of the near by sea. At the sides of the tower, structures that resemble some sort of filtration unit pinched from Frank Herbert's Dune with high domed glass roofs, protrude giving the towers a somewhat futuristic look. The podium will house two storeys of dedicated to the best possible use of space... a shopping mall full of luxury shops. There will be no Walmart found here. A cinema and restaurants will be squeezed in here also giving patrons diversity if melting the credit cards isn't quite their thing. The first tower will house a top notch luxury hotel providing 720 king size and double rooms, 98 junior suites, 16 executive suites which will feature a lounge area and to top it off a high class speciality restaurant. The second tower will offer the best in hotel serviced apartments which will range in size from 1 - 3 bedrooms overlooking the sea below, a luxury penthouse suite will occupy the top floor. Seen as a futuristic extension of Doha, which many are betting on to be the next Dubai, Lusail is being tipped as becoming the ultimate living experience for the 200,000 people expected to take up residence in the booming annex. The hotel, which so far will be the biggest development in Lusail, is expected to open its doors for business in 2010. |
