Other Information

  • Fairbourne House was riddled with problems and quickly acquired the local nickname of "Faulty Tower".
  • Despite the supposed bad build quality, when the building was explosively demolished in 1981 an entire section of it was left intact consisting of the top two floors. This had to be broken up using a wrecking ball whilst the embarrassment made the Lond evening news.
  • The site of Fairbourne House is now Fathom and Transom Houses.
