  • Originally founded in the 12th century, the church was destroyed in the Great Fire of London and then rebuilt in Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren.
  • Nicholas Hawksmoor added the spire in the 1690s with corner pinnacles added to the top of the tower giving a Gothic touch.
  • The church was completely destroyed in the Blitz in 1941 but the tower was rebuilt again in 1967 as a copy of what was before.
  • It now forms part of St Paul's Cathedral choir school.
