  • St Michael's Church is built on the site of the original forum of the Roman town of Londinium.
  • The church was burned down in Great Fire of London and then rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren.
  • In 1722 the tower was remodelled to ape Magdalen's Tower in Oxford by Hawksmoor who rebuilt it in the manner of Gothic Revival.
