Kings Cross Station is one of the main stations in London, the main terminal for the East Coast Mainline and half a dozen tube lines.
The station has a famous green "shed" tacked on the front of it built in 1972 that was originally meant to be temporary and obscures the Grade 1 listed frontage.
Work is now underway to build a new ticket hall, demolish the temporary station extension and reopen the frontage on to a grand plaza.
The original Kings Cross was a monument to George the Fourth (played by Hugh Laurie in Blackadder).
Kings Cross is the fabled resting place of Boudiceas body, either under platform 8, 9 or 10 although there have been no recent attempts to excavate it.
The station has been the setting for many famous films and books, the most notable include Harry Potter from which Hogwarts Express departs and multiple Sherlock Holmes books.
A number of disasters have taken place at Kings Cross including a fire in 1987 that killed 32 and a bomb attack in 2005
