  • This tower is the only surviving part of the ancestral medieval residence of the Erskine family, the Earls of Mar. The rest of the complex was destroyed by fire.
  • It served as a defensive fortification and look-out post for their home and is the largest surviving medieval tower house.
  • Features include the original oak roof beams, original medieval groin vaulting, a pit dungeon and the original internal well. The walls are 11 feet thick.
