Other Information

  • Ramshorn Kirk was designed by Thomas Rickman to echo the dimensions of a typical Gothic medieval parish church hence its relative smallness.
  • Built in the mid 1820s to serve part of Glasgow's rapidly growing merchant quarter, Ramshorn Kirk was one of the first buildings in Scotland to feature the Gothic Revival style, an architectural vernacular that was already hugely popular in England.
  • Construction was split into two parts with the crypt costing 3,000 and the church and bell tower coming to a combined price of 4,000.
