  • Mary Shelley is one of the famous people interred at St Peter's Church, Bournemouth. Her husband, the poet Percy Shelley, has his heart buried with her. Her mother Mary Woolstencroft, one of the first feminists is also buried with her.
  • Famous British Victorian Prime Minister, William Gladstone, had his last communion at St Peter's Church before he died.
  • Until 1878, the churchyard was the only burial place in the whole of Bournemouth.
