Images Other Information
- Clad almost exclusively in aluminium and glass, the sloping crown of the building and the curving profile are designed to evoke the image of the prow of an ocean liner.
- Construction of the building was complicated by the existence of the Blackwall Tunnel almost directly under the site. As a result the scheme sits on a suspended concrete raft over it, portions of which were marked for no piling to insure the integrity of the tunnel remained intact.
- In total the structure from foundations to core contains 40,000 cubic metres of slipform concrete consisting of Pozzolith 100XR, Glenium SKY 544 and Glenium 27.
- Connected to Ontario Tower thanks to interlinked entrances and a shared central atrium is a 169 bedroom hotel.
