Other Information

  • 85 Vauxhall Cross is the headquarters of the Mi6 intelligence agency and according to the James Bond films, where he is based in London.
  • The building has been featured in the hit films the World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day. In the former it was the scene of a bomb attack.
  • In 2000 life mirrored art as Irish republicans launched a missile attack on the building.
  • Rumour has it a tunnel system stretches under the Thames from here to Westminster and Whitehall on the other side. These rumours have been fueled by the fact that the National Audit Office report into the building costs show only the financial figures rather than the nature of the spending.
  • Although the building appears to have a standardised system of cladding there are in fact dozens of different types of stone and glazing used, each customised to what that part of the structure contains.
